YOU ARE SO BRAVE
"You Are So Brave" is a hybrid documentary that follows director Stephanie McCanles through the unexpected adjudication of her 30-year-old sexual assault cold case in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The film combines traditional documentary footage of the court case with theatrical recreations of the assault, which Stephanie directs while interrogating her own performance of trauma over the last 30 years.

The state of Wisconsin allowed Stephanie to bring a camera crew into the courtroom. Nine months of vérité filming captured the all the events of the trial of her assailant.
